for the guys running Cups/964 offset rims on a 3.2, what's the spacer configuration necessary to make a typical 964 wheel work? i'm considering at a set of aftermarket 964 fitment rims, but the offsets may be too far off for my liking. thanks.

There are two types of Cup 1's- the real thing that are made just for the late offset 964 cars, and the replicas that are cast to have the correct offset for a 3.2 car. It's a whole lot easier to just find a set that have the correct offsets:
17x7.5 et23 17x9.0 et15 The 964 wheels 17x7 et 50 or 55 17x9 et 50 So you'll need at least 25mm (1") front spacers and 35mm rear spacers, and of course you'll need to put longer stud is to use those spacers. You'll be into $400+ for the spacers and studs plus your time to get the spacers all out.
