I may have the chance to buy a complete front suspension including struts, brakes (basically wheel to wheel) from an '86 930. I've read some info posted in the past and I read that the later 930 setups ('79 and on?) had a more positive offset.
Is there any way to get this to fit on my 73 911T without flaring the fenders? Would using a pair of 944 offset 16x7 fuchs make any difference? I'm willing to flare the front, just would rather not undertake that expense right now. Once I get the front taken care of, what would be the best (easiest, most cost-effective, requiring least mods) caliper/rotor setup for the rear of my car to balance out the front? Thanks |

I think that the wheel to wheel distance would be too great to fit your narrow car. I think you could get different rotors and hats and make it fit. I could be wrong though.

if you got the rare hard to find floating rotors...you can install fuchs without the 25mm spacer which fills out the tubro flares...the later rotors had a 25mm offset built into them
with the floatings you can install on a narrow body car MJ |

The floating rotors are not rare or hard to find, just expensive.

The offset on the 16x7 is the same for both 911 and 944 which is 23mm. The 16x8 944 turbo wheel has a 23 mm offset where the 911 has 10mm.

Thanks guys.
Is that all I would need; the floating type rotors? Different hat or ?? Any idea what would be the best (cheapest, fewest required mods) rear brake that would balance out with the turbo fronts? |

yep if you got the floating...fronts should be simple bolt on
some suggest a new master cylinder too I think you can stick with SC or move up to 964 brembos for the rear...930 in the rears are more tricky...machine the calipers...mod the trailing arms...etc...but the rotors are standard 930's Bill Verburg is the authority on this...also check out widebodys website for installation insructions also www.vehiclecraft.com for pictures MJ |

The floating rotors list for $350 each from Porsche but you can get a discount. The hats are around $300.
I don't know about the rears but I would think if you went with 930 calipers that might work
