Black or polished Fuchs petals - your thoughts?

My car's wheel petals are black and in need of touch-up, but sometimes I think it might look better with polished mag petals instead, so I asked our nephew to 'shop a photo for me.

I am thinking that I would like the polished look but can't decide. Can you let me know what you think?

Thanks

I'm a huge fan of the stock black or RS finish. Polish is a little too bilingual for my taste.

I have the same color car as you. I like the black centers better with Venetian Blue.

The majority prefer black. Just do a search. I tend to not go with the purists, or I want to emulate race car wheels. I say do what you want since the answer here will be black. Just read the responses to follow. If you strip the targa bar, go with polished petals.

Rick S (RSBob) - it is interesting that you would say that since I thought the combo was the exception rather than the rule. Only because a while back Wayne solicited tons of wheel pictures for some reason - he got pages of them and I can't recall seeing a mostly black wheel in the lot.

To Ayles - "bilingual" LOL
Jeff: sweet car

Thanks guys.

Any one else?

OK, how about this - a brushed look on petals with Scotchbrite. That way, not shiny, but still, the petals stand out. Of course, on that car, I think I'd just strip all the black paint off and leave them without any black.

I think Fuchs look best that way, LOL. I'll post an example: Hey, wanna see a picture of my nuts?

I prefer the classic anodized look, so I had mine stripped and re-anodized in the classic style. Not cheap, but I prefer them this way. Black is too boring, hides the wonderful shape of the Fuchs petals. Polished is too much bling. RS is OK for a race-look, but I'm not hot on it for a street car.

I had gloss black petals and polished rim, but was a little bored with it.

So I painted the petals silver and went for a quasi-RSR-look.

Seems to me like black is the favored these days, but I'd choose polished any day over black.

Recently purchased a set of 16" Fuchs which had black petals, but were really beat up. I decided to refinish them myself and went with polished petals. Really like the look but damn it was A LOT of work.

Stock is trick. Do not deviate. If they were meant to be polished, it would have been done at the factory.

I have the polished wheels from the factory and they are a lot of bling but they fit my car - and I am going for that "Miami Vice" look! On any other car I prefer the polished petals. The all black hides the details of the wheel.

Bling it On!

^ This is my preferred look as well. I call it more of a semi-polish, or natural. Not fully polished to mirror. This look can be achieved with elbow grease without the expense of anodizing, although anodizing will require less maintenance.

Please!
Black centers with anodized lips. No chrome. No all-black wheels.
If centers MUST be painted, then flat finish only (minimum bling).
