current 3.6 swap info?

Is Dr. Steve Timmins still one of the go-to resources for a 3.6 swap project? I just made a deal on a car that is a perfect candidate for a 3.6 transplant and need to get back up to speed on current engine pricing and conversion parts/kits. I haven't looked at this stuff in years and the InstantG website hasn't changed since then. I sent him an email and I'll give him a call after the holiday. How available are good solid 964 engines currently? What other resources are out there for a project like this these days?

TIA

Patrick motorsports has some of the parts needed.

As they are getting old, good motors are a tough thing to find.

I helped a buddy do a Timmins swap this past spring. Everything from him was 100% what was needed. A lot of work but essentially plug and drive. The motor is a nice strong upgrade.

I got my 3.6 swap parts from Patrick Motorsports ... you can easily add another 5K to the price of the engine for all the extra parts you will need for the conversion !
Despite some of the bad publicity, if found them easy to work with and very helpful ...

Cheers

Steve's website hasn't changed, but he's still out there and providing swap parts. Not only does he make good pieces, he does a lot of conversions for customers too. Very unique combination- a PHD/professor who's a Porsche fanatic and makes parts to drop a 3.6 in a 911. I've know him close to 25 years and couldn't imagine using anyone else's parts.

Thanks again, guys. I talked with Steve yesterday. He has already been incredibly helpful.

I have not seen this car in person yet. Turns out it was located about an hour from his shop. He sent someone with his trailer to get it first thing this morning so he could give a real assessment for the conversion. The car is at Instant G right now and will likely leave with the 3.6 work done. You can't beat that for service/support.

Steve Timmins did a swap for me last spring. He is excellent and his work is well done. He provides great support, going above and beyond to help you if you need it in my experience. I highly recommend him based on my own great experience.

Go for the Varioram if you can. It makes it more challenging to work on but the low end torque increase made my car so enjoyable to drive.

I could not have gotten any luckier with the logistics on this deal.

I also talked with Patrick MS about the project. They were also very helpful. It sounds like they keep everything in stock for just about any 3.6 swap.

I'm thinking of rebuilding my 3.2 (3.4 possibly) or do a 3.6 transplant.
Have you listed a detailed budget of parts/pricing? I'd be interesting in seeing it, to get current prices. FYI, I helped my buddy pick up a 3.6L in 2007 and he had Steve install, total cost at that time was $9,500 for the engine and another $5,500 for parts/labor including custom chip and Varioram upgrade. Engine dynoed at ~305hp.

Steve has a spreadsheet (maybe on his website too?) that shows all the costs (plus options) for his conversions. I'd start there.

I used him for mine and received excellent support from Steve when I ran into wiring issues. This was due to my donor motor, not anything Steve did. He put a lot of post-sale time into helping me get it running.

Recognize that every car is a little different and you may want to make different choices along the way, substituting out Steve's parts for something else. Off the top of my head, I chose to modify a 964 throttle cable, used a 3.0/3.2L engine mount, used an elephant racing drivers side fender oil cooler, bought muffler from M&K for stock heat exchangers, and modified fuel lines with the help of Len/BoxsterGT. Steve's kit would have worked, but I preferred the other options that have come up over the years.
