Question To drill or not to drill......

So I've read that you can drill your air cleaner lid to increase the "performance sound" of your motor. Has anyone done this? Would you recommend? I have reservations about putting holes in and then not liking the results.

its just gonna give you a bunch of induction noise and maybe a few hp when you open it up thats all...

porsche actually offered a louder airbox on the very last of the aircooled cars, it was like a 250 dollar option...

I did this on my 1985 Carrera a few years ago. I can't say that it sounds much different than before and I can't detect any power increase. It seemed to have zero effect. But try it, if you don't like it just cover the holes with Racer Tape,

Excellence had a tech article about this on a 3.2 engine a few months back. They said no power was gained on the Dyno.
