Chucking the Top

Targas are great, but the top...where to put it...that is the question. Sometimes I get lazy and just chuck it behind the seat. The other day I noticed a scratch on the material. Where do you put your top when you take it off? Always in the frunk?

I'm thinking of some extra padding in the back or always placing it "rails down".

If I take it with me, I place it on the 'shelf' the folded down back seats make. I usually have a towel or two in the car to tuck around it. Otherwise frunk or garage. Before I redid my seats, I got some scratches on the back from having it behind the seats on its side on the floor.

Mr Moo (I hope I got that right) on Pelican makes a very nice bag for the top with velcro closures and hand strap. Varioius colors. Fits nicely on the shelf made by the folded rear seat backs. He also makes a cover for the glass area for parking in the sun and is for the Targa. Local guys use them. I wouldn't be without mine. Everything neat and cool.
If Mr Moo doesn't work for you pm me and I'll get you his email address. If interested of course.

Lots of times I'll fold it and place it on the (folded) rear seats. Other times I'll fold it and stick it in the trunk.
Only if I'm just going down the street will I leave it at home.

Mr. Moo top is not commercial yet - but here's a pic

Targa top behind seat storage - Bungee Cord

I like it. If he does produce it - I'll buy one.

I always put it in the frunk. I have considered making a bag for it but have not had the time to do the seamstress work.

Regards
Dave

In SoCal between April and October I don't even need a Targa top. It stays unfolded in the garage on a piece of carpet with the rain gutter down. If I need it on extended trips I fold it but not completely with blanket inside to keep it somewhat extended. I place it top down on the folded down rear seats. This is how my top staid fresh, without any cracks for 35 years.

I've put mine unfolded behind the seats but have noticed the hump making indentions in it. Mine doesn't want to fold.

I would like to know what brother Dan Petchel from Carsinc recommends. He re built my top last year to "as new" condition. I have always folded and put on top of the folded down rear seat. I don't like the "frunk" because it is possible for it to slide around and i can't keep a watchful eye on it. I like the blanket idea to keep top from completely folding ( less stretch ). I'll give that a try. Brother Dan, if you are out there ... What do you suggest
