Unhappy I need help on Long Island!

I as well as several other Pelicanites are in need of some assistance. I am having trouble in getting someone I paid money to to ship me the parts.
The guy I bought from seems to be nice, but is having alot of health problems. I have waited three months and have yet to see the torsion bars I bought.

I was really hoping someone from the NYC/Long Island area could help me out by picking up the bars. I thought I could get some help from my sister, but she has said it would take a week for her to get out there and supposedly this guy is going back into the hospital Monday.

This thread, which some may have seen explains a bit more:

Anyone able to assist?

If I read the thread correctly the parts are in Melville.

Suggestion: Change the shipper to something like FedEx Ground and pay the little extra to have them pick it up. I don't think UPS will do a home pickup unless you have an account or can issue a call tag.

Good luck!

UPS will pick up from homes. Call 800 PickUPS and request a onetime pickup.

It sounds like it will be tough just to get this guy to pack it up for UPS to pick up.

Good Luck !!!

Cool Many thanks

Dr. Osidak,

You were exactly correct. I did not realize I could send UPS out to a private residence! If all goes well, UPS will be there after 9 tomorrow and Mr. Varga has agreed to pay the shipping charges upon pickup (I have already paid for the shipping).
Barring any issues...my torsion bars should be here Tuesday. Go figure, I send out the request to the world and get help in my very own region! Haha.
Maybe I shouldn't count the chickens yet, but thanks to all that responded. I appreciate the reserve of wealth available on this board.

I did buy some spec books from S. Varga. He took 3 month to ship them. He did ship them though. I had to call him 5 times. I think he is hurtin. It does suck not getting your parts that you pay for.

just a suggestion

i talked with him the other day, he seems genuine, told me he does not drive a porsche has a caravan cant afford insurance, had a shop of his own and has a lot of parts. as i was in the market for fenders at the time, if he wanted to scam me he could have said that he had them and i would have sent the money, but he did not have what i wanted and we talked a while.
he may not have the mailing skills that he should have so i would recommend that you send him the packaging material with nothing in it and have him put it in. you can even prepay for the shipping with ups so that all that he has to do is call on the phone if that does not work then i do not have an answer

The prepackaged idea is a pretty good one. I didn't thing of that. It might just be my only option at this point. UPS went to his house today and either he wasn't there or the packing material was inadequate. Bottom line they didn't pick anything up.
I agree he seems to be straightforward and a nice person, but just because there are good intentions doesn't mean all will turn out well. UPS said they would try both Monday and Tuesday to pick up the package.

BTW if anyone lives near Melville, Long Island and can help, please let me know.
