Hotbits adjustable shocks
Just wanted to give you guys a little heads up on some parts i'm currently working on... First a little background. I have been designing, building and tuning shocks for the last 13 years or so, most of which has been directed toward the race and rally markets. In 2005 I stared doing work for an overseas shock company called Hotbits and have had good success with the brand on my on personal rally cars along with countless customers. Back when I bought my first 911, I intended to do a coilover setup for the car, but the car is still in the process of being built and I never had the opportunity to install a set. Recently I purchased a second 911 and decided to install one of our Boge insert sets.
The setup consists of 46mm monotube bearing mounted rears and 40mm monotube front inserts. Both dampers are adjustable for rebound/compression, but as the shock is unchecked most of the adjustment range is on the rebound side. I'm currently making fixtures to dyno the parts and develop some additional valve codes. The parts have extremely large adjustment ranges similar to a JRZ, motor or Protract... The parts are fully rebuildable/tuneable. I will keep the board updated as I progress with future valve codes and whatnot... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1410274056.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1410274088.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1410274174.jpg Parts happily lived on my gravel car for 6 years before needing a rebuild. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1410274275.jpg |
Sounds like a good price for a set of double adjustable shocks.

Odd, my Koni adjustables cost $625...
|
I would love to see an active shock for the 911. Something with G-sensing.
|
Actually they are around $1200 shipped and rebuilds are $95.00. It should also be noted that these are built from the same motorsport guts as shown on my my rally car above and not some revalved street setup.

Anyone else use these and have feedback?
Just to confirm...the fronts fit inside Bilstein struts with the same spindle diameter so they fit stock or aftermarket caster/camber plates? The rears slide right in? Any coilover conversion packages to fit? Mine is a 78 if that helps. |
3... how is adjustment made?
|
Damping adjustment is done via the red knob as seen above... We also offer a coilover setup that allows for height adjustment as well, but this requires welding a new strut to the front casting.
|
How about coilover on the rear? Can you provide a matched setup with the inserts into Boge in the front using torsion bars, but a coilover rear ditching the torsion bar? I find that makes rear setup and adjustment much easier. Front height adjustments arent hard anyway and the low placement of the torsion bar helps CoG.
