PPI results -- deal breaker?

Hi all you mechanics. I received results on a '88 911 with around 115,000 miles. There are a few mechanical issues the ppi uncovered that I could use some help evaluating.

1. Partially crushed oil lines with ~10-15% reduced flow.
2. Brake lines are original
3. Fuel return hose in front of the motor is badly cracked.
4. The fuel distribution line was repaired with generic hose rather than replaced with a Porsche part.

Overall, the car presents and drives excellent. Emissions are good and leak down is 3-5% across all six.

The car is priced fairly prior to the discovery of these issues. Any idea what it would cost to repair these items? Are they a deal breaker? Thanks very much.

Wouldn't be an issue with me.
Go thru the brakes etc, replace whatever hoses and go.
That reduced oil flow from the front radiator may be nothing at all as most have a ding or two in their lines. I've a couple and my car runs cool in Az heat.

The thing one only finds out from owning is oil use....miles per quart that can indicate wear in guides etc.

I agree with Reiver - nothing there that would cause me major concern. The oil lines are the only items that might be significant costs for the average do-it-yourelf'er.

Go for it and be sure to post pics - and welcome aboard!

Buy it!!

Then fix all that stuff yourself. Start w/fuel line. I just did mine. Took a few hours to remove all the stuff in the way, then it was relatively not difficult

To me, none of that is a deal-breaker on a almost 30-year-old car. In fact, it's expected. I generally go through and replace all the "consumable" hoses and fluids on a used vehicle when I buy it.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy that car. That's nothing on a 25 year old car. If I was selling it I wouldn't negotiate much with you over those things. If you passed I would add them to my ad and wait for another buyer. Sorry, but it is a seller's market.

Nothing too scary.
Leakdowns are good.
Replaced a short fuel line to filter this week. E85 compatible (good stuff) with cover and crimped end - $10.00. Whole shooting match is around $450.00 for everything.
Oil lines can be fixed with a threaded end and some air pressure. Search here.
Also search here for post by Len as another source of fuel lines.

Use these issues as leverage to lower the price...ask for 2.5k off. Labor is the expensive part if you don't do these yourself.

If the leak down was an issue then may be a problem. The other issues and weekend projects. Go for it.

Go for it - i have an '88 Carerra. Fuel lines should all be replaced if they are original. I also have a partially crushed oil line at the passenger wheel well, but things still seem ok even in very hot summer driving in Philly area.

Expect to pay about $3K (USD) for parts and labor if you are going to have someone replace all the fuel lines with new.

Have the owner fix it or get a credit.
