electrical stuff and what not

hi

while fixing some broken wires and re-tapeing the wire loom today a few questions came up that i hope some of you can help me with

the 14 pin connector in the engine compartment had 2 broken wires the first one was a solid blue one and according to the wire diagram it goes from #4 "governor" to #3 alternator

the second was a white or a white/black wire that i think was a ground but i am unsure

i am wondering what a "govenor" is my guess is its porsches way of saying voltage regulator. but since i dont know i thought i would ask

Thanks
Kyle

You are correct the blue is for the "generator" and is #11 in the plug.
Didn't see a white or white/black,
there is a grey/white on #7 that goes to the "electromagnetic control valve" (that's the little thing that sits on top on the fuel filter, if you have one and squits gas for starting.
The wiring diags can be found on this site.
Also grounds are brown.

the wire diagrams i have are the ones from this site i printed them out and had them turned into poster size at kinkos but i could not figure out why in the legend it calls #4 a governor

but thanks for your help i figured it meant regulator or genorator

and thatnks for the help with the grounds

thanks
