Fuel delivery problem after restoration

OK, my 73.5 2.4 (CIS) rebuild was a successful start and run for about 5 minutes last night until the engine died. It will not restart and I am suspecting a fuel delivery issue. The pump runs but no fuel is pumped. I do not hear the fuel return circulating anymore like it was before starting and running the engine.

When I disconnect the fuel intake hose at the pump no fuel spills out even though there are about 3 gallons of new fuel. I suspect some old varnished gas from the fuel circulation system may have made its way to the tank so I've tried some shop air to blow into the fuel send hose. No luck getting fuel out but air does come out inside the tank.

Is the pump gravity fed or suction? Shouldn't fuel come racing out of this hose if it isn't clogged?

On your car is the fuel pump at the front or rear?
If it's at the rear...the pump may be your problem...not enuf "suck"...LOL
I would disconnect the feed line from the tank at the pump...and use a vacuum device to pull some gas through.
If the flow is "easy" you have no prob with the tank (filter) or lines.
If it's difficult to draw fuel...check the in tank filter...or perhaps a bad line from the tank to the pump.

The very first thing you need to check is the inside of the tank. Pull the fuel level sender and look in there with a bright (and small) flashlight. Look OK? Then pull the hose off of the outlet fitting. Fuel come out? No? Then you're gonna have to pull the outlet fitting with the built in screen. Yes? the hose and line through the body may be compromised. My money's on the tank and screen, but you can't tell without looking ...
