raspy bursch muffler
Installed a used Bursch 2 in 1 out muffler system on my 77 Targa, 2.7L motor. At 19-2500RPM, get a raspy note out of the exhaust, then goes away until I upshift or downshift and comes back in the same range. What gives? My original banana muffler doesn't do that. Not a broken baffle, nothing rubbing or vibrating against anything. Sounds like a fart can on a Honda. Even my wife is teasing me about it. Anybody have the same experience?

I had a bursch 2 in 1 out on my SC when I first put SSIs on it. I hated the sound. Sounded like a pi$$ed off bumble bee. I was embarrassed to drive the car because it didn't sound like a 911 should. Sound is highly subjective, but it sounded bad.
I quickly switched to a M&K 2 in 2 out with a plug for the second outlet and have been a happy camper ever since. With the plug in it sounds great but not too loud. With the plug out, it is nice and loud for the track and howls like a cup car. For me it was an expensive experiment, but I'm glad I ditched the bursch. I was able to sell the Bursch second hand, but at a great loss.

I guess you didn't do your homework, plenty of posts on bursch and how raspy they can be.

I liked the Bursch 2 in 1 out wth SSI's on my car. This is with the '86 3.2, but sounded similar with the 2.4.

Muffler
Guys, thanks for your responses. It is a dynomax muffler and yes, I did do my homework before I bought it, both pros and cons on this setup. I have my Bischoff muffler that's going back on this weekend. Can't take the buzzing muffler or better yet, my wife's impersonation of the noise it makes. Anybody want to buy a Bursch dynomax 2in1out cheap??

When I bought my 75 it had a dynomax turbo Bursch 2 in 1 out setup. I wouldn't describe it as "buzzing" but it was quite loud (car is a bit of a Frankenstein with a 2.2 carbed motor). One of the first things I did was swap in a stock muffler. The neighbors were happy and at least to me the car sounds a lot less like a Harley and a lot more like a 911 with a stock setup.

I have a Bursch glasspack style with headers on my SC. I love it!

Add me to the list that like the 2 in/1 out DM Bursch. I like the sound it makes, and it's not too quiet or too loud IMHO. I daily drive as well, so if I din't like it, it would be long gone by now.
