Cost of 3.0 SC engine rebuild

What would one expect to pay for an average 3.0 engine rebuild? Not including the cost of removal and installation.

48 hours is what the labour was last time i checked with porsche.

Expect another $1000-1500 in parts. It really depends on how good (or bad shape) the engine is in. For instance, you find that the crankshaft is outta spec, thats gonna double your parts price (some will say replace, some will say machine although Porsche says 'replace')

I wouldn't open that can of worms unless you have between $5-10k available to do the rebuild or you KNOW for a fact that it will be fairly routine.

A few ways to save money: 1 - do the work yourself. 2 - Just do a top end rebuild.

Call TRE in North Hollywood 818-509-0257 - talk to Dave, Jeremy or Tyson. They can give you a ballpark, then look for a place closer to home, unless you want to drive up there.
