Tranny lube? Well, supposedly KY Jelly, or equivalent, is a must as it is water based, and thus lessons the risks of bacterial infection!

I use only redline MTL it's 70W80 in all my Mk2,3 and 4's with great results and plan to try it in my Carrera this summer.

Never put Redline in a 915 gearbox. Ever.

I've read bad things about Swepco.

My "very well known" wrench in Seattle recommends Kendall.

Redline not recommended as mentioned. One of the best suited for 915 trans. is Kendall NS-MP Hypoid 80W-90 for non LSD or Kendall Special Limited Slip 80W-90 for LSD highly recommended

Searched redline specs and not recommended with hypoid gears so I guess the Kendall stays in which is a great gear oil

Our host sells a lot of parts for "a lot" different makes & models like Audi/VW, BMW etc. (thankfully ) but in this case the Redline is not spec.'d for a 911 915 gear box. I would NOT use it, there's been posts re. the excess wear on synchros & reasons why.

I should at least mention this is all re. the "Redline Synthetic" type ( NOT good for our 915), however, re. the "non-synthetic Redline" from my pers. experience ( fr. using Swepco & Kendall & older non syn.-Redline ) I would just as well stick with the tried & true Kendall, never had any issues with it.

3+ on Kendall 80w90. Using Swepco 201 gave me poor (slow and stiff) shifts until really warmed up and even then, not a good as Kendall right from cold. A no brainer for my transmission.

I've used the lucas regular gear oil for years in mine. 2 bottles of 8090 and one of gear stabilizer. Even eliminated the 2nd to 3rd crunch on hurried upshifts that I had with swepco.

Motormeister used to sell rebuilt engines, so it must be ok to buy one from them.
