"snatch catcher" hahaha that is funny, makes me want to get an sc.

if it was in fact called "super carrera" in german, it would also be called "uber carrera", then it would be commonly known as a "uc" which in english stands for "ukk" which is a general expression of distaste or foulness.

It is indeed Super Carrera.

The most durable and well made sports car ever.

And in European form at least, by the standards of their day, they were anything but slow. Apart from some very fragile Itallian machines, they were about the fastest car you could buy in the late 1970s/early 1980s.

They saved the company, despite the company wanting to get rid of them (an amazing true story).

We are talking factory delivered cars here right? Not some SC with a 3.2 UPGRADE or a drool drool 3.6. Every available review (ones I've read) demonstrated that the Carrera was faster across the board. Also of mention the Carrera used less fuel doing so even though it added 200 or so pounds to the package.

Hell the Pelican FAQ even details the 0-60 times and top speed in favor of the 3.2.

This has probably been answered here before but what additional equipment was added to the Carrera to account for the 200lbs...the 3.2 displacement and Motronic? Visually they are very hard to distinguish (for me) without seeing the SC badge or the older chrome window striping.

Prof. Porsche was in England on a "make friends with the English pigs marketing exercise" and a 911 went ripping past the taxi on the motorway, nearly wiping them out. The English cabbie, not knowing who his esteemed passenger was shouted "Silly C###" out the window. Prof. Porsche thought this was the English word for 911 and as a mark of respect to his new English friends called the new 911, SC.

In 1979 - 1983 SC stood for Secretly Conservative on the 911 estimated 0-60 and 1/4mile times.
It was a time when insurance companies were paying close attention to these estimated times and everyone related speed to gas consumption, which was not accepted well with the non Porsche community.
Again, unless you own one you will not understand.

Well, I'd hope that a 1978 SC could beat a 1978 Civic , what with the Civic's 60 hp and 0-60 in 13.8 seconds...

SUPER CARRERA as opposed to a plain, ordinary, regular, and basic Carrera.

Muahahahaha!

SC

Killed bugs fast -- first!

As most species development peaks at some point , the SC was the crest of the 911 development. Everything since has either been stretched, tacked on or changed to attract $$$.
