The ex-Bert Olander/Jim Lipps 911R--was it ever a bargain?
I started out inquiring about 911R models some months ago when I posted a note about a 911R whose owner Jeff Mannix, I met 34 years ago
but nobody seemed to know the fate of that car. Then I came across this story in a website today: SodaHead.com - 1967 Porsche 911R which says this blue fiberglass bodied 911 was ordered by playboy Lance Reventlow but never delivered to him, instead going to: Bert Olander then Jim Lipps I was wondering if anybody has an old ad from Competition Press or suchlike offering the car for sale at any time in the '60s or '70s before the general American public even knew what a 911R was? I'd like to hear the price and the year the ad ran. The article does not have the SN of the car.... ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Sorry for duplicate pictures; this new post says 24 R models
Factory 911 R 1967 Photo Gallery by JCK at pbase.com
has pictures of a good many of them, which they say were produced in a quantity of 20 production ones plus four prototypes. All the other sources I found so far say 20 Anyhow I could count the SN on the ones he shows but I don't know if he has all 24, but suffice to say great shots, great website, doing a real service. ![]() |
