Hello Moderators: Picture Uploading Does Not Work Anymore

Some other people seem to have a problem uploading pictures all of a sudden. Happened to me to today also. Several tries, all failed. Never had a problem working from Windows XP before. Can it be fixed?

Hopefully they're upgrading to a version where we can just drag a bunch of pics in...

I too would really appreciate some help on this one......

I take most of my pics with phone.. was using Samsung Galaxy S, broke it and had to get a new phone.. since this time I've been unable to upload my pics to Pelican.

I use a Samsung Galaxy III or lV,.. duh?
Pics are jpeg, as opposed to jpg, yes I've tried changing file extension..
I off-load pics to a folder which I create on the computer which is HP w/windows 7

I attempt to upload to Pelican as I always have and I get;

"We're sorry, but you may only upload image files (with an extension of .gif or .jpg). Please go back and select a different file."

From what I understand, jpeg and jpg are supposed to be the same thing except for the "e" being present.

Pelican is the only site I have this issue with.

Where did the picture/file originate?

I see also that it is jpg and not jpeg, which I believe is my issue.

KTL 10-13-2014 11:25 AM

Uploaded it from my desktop PC. Yep the extension should be jpg or it gets rejected.

porwolf 10-13-2014 11:44 AM

Let's try again from my XP Desk top, with "jpg" extension:

Oh, good! works like it used to. Thanks, moderators!

I had issues using phone pics in my dropbox but I suspect it was the file name. The camera uses date/ time filenames which have extra periods. Files with proper names upload OK. Weird and maybe unconnected but there ya go...

If I may add, I cant seem to switch to FULL SITE myself on my iphone. Additionally, most of the time I can't even reply to messages.

Guys, I emailed Wayne about this last night and he fixed the issue around 10am PST this morning. There was a permission problem on the server side. Problem has been corrected and uploading of pix werks again. :)

For iPhone just use the Tapatalk free app. Loaded pictures even when there was a problem.

Well, I guess I wasn't clear regarding my issue..

I take the picture with my phone, Galaxy lll, a droid.

I either send myself an email from my phone to my lap top.. or I upload to the laptop from the phone.

If I look at the file extension on my laptop, it is a jpeg

Example of a file I attempted to upload here from my computer> 20141011_125845(5)jpeg
I appears that it is sent from the phone in this format.

I have no problem opening it, sending the pics to others, or posting the pics on other sites.. only here to Pelican?

Again, I would appreciate any help in resolving this. Thx!

Just double click the file name and change the extension to .jpg manually on your PC.
It will work.

I'm gonna give that a shot later..

I m now pretty sure it is the phone that is using the jpeg extension.. any idea how to change that to jpg?

nineball 10-14-2014 12:32 PM

Photo and image hosting, free photo galleries, photo editing

However, I have found that the problem is my phone, it saves the image as jpeg rather that jpg. If I can figure out how to change that I'm back in business.

Thx for your input.
