Interesting. I think it's pretty right on and common knowledge among those of us who think infomercials are a tool of the devil. I have a question: The article claims Lake Speed is "a certified lubrication specialist". What cert? From who?

The STLE, Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers sponsor's a test to be come certified 2 or 3 times a year.
Anyone can take the test to become certified. Check it out. Tribology- the study of friction, wear and lubrication

Yup, he is a CLS. Its not an easy exam. I'm a CLS as well and I also know Lake. There are about 1200 CLSs in the world. Fewer OMAs which stands for Oil Monitoring Analyst - I just taught a class last week in Atlanta for some folks going for their OMA cert.

adding anything can monkey up the formula and make some additives precipitate out - can even create blockages...
