blown oil line

Going home frome work yesterday I split the s hose in my 911. I have never seen that much oil come out of a car at once. Luckily I noticed right away and stopped before any oil pressure was lost.
The funny part was that there was a newer model mustang right behind me. The guy had been riding my butt for about a mile, then I decided to give it some gas so I could make some room between us, right then is when the oil line blew. I bet it takes him a while to clean his windshield off.

Well, if you HAVE to lose an 'S' hose ... that seems like poetic justice to dump 10 qts all over a tailgater! I bet he thinks twice about following a 911 so closely in the future! Had to be a bit of extra work to get his underwear clean, I bet! LOL ...

Well, it sucks that you lost the line, but since you caught it in time to save the engine...
Thanks for the laugh!
I can picture the mustang covered in oil and the look on his face

Think I saw that trick in an old James Bond movie once.

That is exactly what I was thinking. The old James Bond oil spray out the back of the car. I wonder how long it will take him to clean off his windshield after this.

It just happens that the oil sprayed all over the exaust (heater boxes removed) so it was kind of a smoke screen as well.

How long did you drive it before this?

I used to have an 82 SC and one day I came into the back after a day's work (was at a Volkswagen dealer) and a porter (new-car prepper; car-washer) pulled it out and was revving the sh** out of it while it was still cold and it blew the S-hose. Got to drive a brand-new Golf VR6 home though... I do my own work so it wasn't too bad, but I chewed the mechanic out like you wouldn't believe.

As I prepared the SC for this weekends engine drop, I gave some thought to the humble (but vital) 'S' hose. It seemed to be still supple and not looking like a 20+ year old part. But after reading rhaas' post, I may install a new one.....just in case.

I wanted to use a 50/50 glycol/water to inject into exhaust for a cloud of smoke..wonder how much oil it would take..should be more than glychol/water??? .. ............Ron
