i just got into the carting world and have learned of these insanos in their 250cc Karts...
they actually have faster lap times then most of the GT class in the AMLS...and they are off the CART teams by 4-8 seconds...I forget which... they are insane... http://www.worldsuperkarts.com/FGG/index.asp Last edited by 82SC; 10-08-2002 at 04:17 PM.. |

Wow! How many guys with CARS would like to have a support set-up like those pictured? OKay, Kart fans...history lesson & trivia question: I know the ONLY person to make the Guinness book under the heading: "Go-Kart Circumnavigation". Yep, some fool took a GO-KART around the planet. His listing was dropped from the book some time ago, so don't go there unless you have a 1971 or so issue. I wrote Guinness, asked why he was dropped. They wrote back, nutshell reply was because nobody tried to beat his record of 23,300 land miles through 28 countries, over a time span of a few years. No support crew, certainly no tool filled trailer. Just he & his Kart, towing a small trailer of spares, camping gear, and tools. Hint...the 175 cc engine that did this was from a Lambretta scooter...he learned quickly that a chain saw engine wouldn't last. A smiley and recognition to he or she who gets it right first....

The crowd at the recent Laguna Seca ALMS was impressed to say the least, with the Superkarts.
80-100 hp pushing around 400lbs. You don't have to be a math major to get the picture.

What are those?
I know the 125 go-carts are fast but those things look like they would have a leathal power to weight ratio and handling. Are they 250cc and shifter type carts? |

250cc shifter karts turn sick fast times on ANY track!
Lets say these are $15,000 setups, turning times better than $150,000 Pcars. Interesting that many [most?] professional drivers keep their edge running in these things. Wayne Jackson [962, 917, etc] and Gunnar Jeanette told us that they will set up simulated sections of track they want to perfect, and run them endlessly in their shifter karts. Its a rugged game - the g forces are enormous, adn everything is focused on the driver's ribcage. Wayne recently busted two ribs this way.
