Question Remove Shock for CV Shaft Removal?

Can anyone tell me if the rear shock must be unbolted to remove/install the CV shaft? Would this allow the arm to move outboard enough to provide room to clear the roll pins on the axle? Or should they clear with the shock bolted up? The body is a 70 with 915 and aluminum control arms if it makes a difference. Thanks.

They will clear without removing the shock. Once unbolted, pull the cv back to clear the studs.
