Running wire from engine bay
I need to run wire from engine bay into interior. There doesn't seem to be any "extra" holes available. Half ass it and cut into one of the boots (accel rod or Speedo harness)? Drill a new hole? Wire has to eventually get below the passenger seat.

carbide drill bit and a rubber grommet kit are your friend.
Installing my MSD ignition system meant drilling a nice new hole into the engine firewall with grommet for the wiring. The MSD unit sits below the drivers seat safe away from the heat. |
There is a hole for the rear window defogger wire that is on the parcel tray. You could route the wire through there, under the padding that covers the sheet metal, behind the side panel of the passenger side, under the carpet on the floor to the passenger seat. A bit circuitous, but no new holes drilled.

I started to.run the wire through where the heater flap cables run, but forgot the tubes go all the way to the heat controls.

Look for a spare at the 14 pin connector.

Well, the "wire" is actually 6 wires for wide band sensor. Area for rear defrost is probably too small for the bundle of 6. Might break out the drill :-(

Trace the wires from the Jetronic box under the passengers seat to where it goes through the rear firewall via a grommet near the tunnel. I "supplemented" my crispy wiring to the Frequency Valve through that spot.

When I ran the wires for my electromotive computer, which is under the driver seat, I drilled holes near the fuel lines and then ran the wires along with the fuel lines to the engine compartment.
Below are photos of the holes I drilled into the tunnel - this is before adding rubber gromets. I was able to find rubber gromets that are about an inch thick so they provide plenty of protection to the wires. Depending on the size and number or wires, you can drill a small hole. Also, I had the benefit of the engine being removed but these holes could be drilled from the inside of the tunnel with a 90 degree angle drill. I would recommend using some wire sheathing and not just running the plain wire.
