the mystery of the turn signal toggle
I've got a chronic problem with a stuck turn signal toggle. car is a 69t. a few months ago it started getting sticky when I'd toggle up for the passenger signal.
then progressively stickier with each use. after a few days I could only flip it to the driver's side. tried shooting it with electrical cleaner. helped for a bit, but eventually the problem resurfaced and got worse. a month later toggling to the driver side started getting sticky too. at this point it's impossible to toggle up for the passenger's side. after spraying a gang load of electrical cleaner I get about a day's use of the driver's side before it freezes up too. anyone else ever experienced this? is it failing? time to source a new toggle? thanks y'all |

I assume you're speaking of the turn signal combi switch. It sounds as if it's a goner. Depending on the year, they should be available new.

Yessir, that's exactly the switch. Looks like '69 was a one-off year and they've since ceased making repros. Looks like it's hand signals from here out.

I looked around a bit. Looks like you're right. Have you tried DC Auto?

Woa. I didn't even know about DC Auto. Looks like they may have one for me. I'll tear out the old one first to make sure it's legitimately kaput. Thanks again Cap!

My pleasure. Aside from ragging on people, helping is what I'm here for ...

Parts Heaven is another breaker yard that has been good for me on this oddball stuff. Also. If you do not care about having it match (think concours) you may be able to use other year units. This what I did for my stalk.

Josh. For my 1973.5 the later switch fit right in. The difference was the shape of the stalk. (The replacement has a round shaft and the original was a channel shape) Not sure want fits what.

RSTarga. That was the other one I was trying to remember. The EASY Web site is: SF Bay Area Porsche New & Used Parts || EASY - European Auto Salvage Yard
Another great yard to deal with. |

Josh,
Do you have a part number? I've got turn signal and wiper assemblies that I thought came out of a 71 to match my car. I installed the wiper stalk and it doesn't have the same wiring. If I figure out I can't use it, I'll sell it. I believe the one I have is 901 613 302 04 The one in my car (71T) is 911 613 302 00 Tom
