1995 993 A/conditioner clutch

Hi there porscheafiles, drove my 993 and turned on a/c. Huge screech so I turned it off and repeated a few times and a/c worked. Today, I turned a/c on in the driveway and unbelievable screech as the fan belt was turning but clutch seized. Has anyone out there experienced this and how is it fixed?

1. Replace bearings in clutch. Can you do it in the car?
2. Replace compressor.....I hope not

I hope you can help me? Any thoughts.

First, check to make the v-belt is properly adjusted.

Otherwise, new pump.

After checking belt tension, you may need to replace the compressor/clutch. There is a part number for just the clutch, however the cost is higher then a new complete assembly. The DENSO replacement units are good.

Good opportunity to check you a/c pressures etc.

The clutch, of itself, is not at all likely to be the problem, much more likely the compressor.
