CPR Classic
Has anyone had any experience with CPR Classic Restoration outside of San Diego?
I'm thinking about having them paint my '70T. About Us - Welcome To CPR Classic - CPR Classic Thanks, Jeff

I only talked to them about the cars that are for sale. Their restorations look very good (at least in photos)
I would be interested in hearing how much they charge.

I went there on a porsche drive. Their builds and facility were pretty impressive, but they are not cheap.

CPR is the best of the best. Been there many times just to drool. Absolute opposite end of the spectrum from European Collectables. I'd absolutely trust CPR with your longhood.

That's good to hear that you guys have been there and were impressed. I talked to the owner and was super impressed by their attention to detail. The estimate he gave me, while pretty painful, was similar to what I've heard from local shops, but if their website is to be believed I feel much more confident in CPRs experience. I was also happy they were fine with my doing assembly/dissasemmbly and their focusing on the body and paint.
Now just to decide on Tangerine or Albert Blue...

CPR has an expansive operation that sprawls out over several buildings in an industrial park that includes a large outdoor yard and large warehouses. Each step of the operation is performed by dedicated groups of craftsman. The bodywork department likely takes up the most real estate. The finishing department / final assembly is nicer than most commercial clean rooms. Needless to say they give everyone the grand tour. An old buzzard name Heinz let me snap a couple pictures a few years ago. Love the place.

I will ask. What's the ballpark price range for a bare metal paint job assuming removal of all trim, bumpers and glass? Just wondering. Not looking for a firm price commitment.
Thanks, Sherwood |

^^^ Heinz told me that the average invoice is $65,000. That does not include the donor car....
...and I know that doesn't answer your question. |

Thanks Doug,
$65K? Hmmm. I wonder what the cost was when our cars were once worth a third of current prices? Maybe a third. Win some, lose some. |

If that is 65K for a paint job, I find that outrageous.
Try John Esposito in LA or Freddy Hernandez in Oregon.

I was in San Diego over Memorial Day weekend visiting my folks, and since I am considering using CPR for some work on my 73T, my Father and I drove over their to check out their shop, even though I knew it would be closed. I was surprised to see that their were people there on a holiday weekend, and the GM even offered to take us on a tour of the facilities.
Needless to say I was very impressed with the hospitality, the quality of their work, and the number of 911s and 356s in progress. My plan was to ship to CPR just the stripped shell on a dolly along with the body panels, have them perform the sheet metal repair and paint, then ship it back to me for re-assembly. The GM said that plan could work, and if IIRC, gave me a ball-park figure of ~$30K (10K metal work, 20K paint). Of course he would need to see the car to provide a more accurate written estimate. How does this align with numbers other folks have paid or been quoted?
