Windshield out job. Good luck, Dave |
there is one either side of the cluster binnacle then another 4 along the back going towards the left hand side of the car. They are 10mm accessed from inside the trunk. there are another two that face down int he middle of the cluster binnacle they are accessed the same way or by removing the tacho and speedo on your car. i found easiest way was by removing airbox in the trunk but i needed to do that anyway for a clean up job. Some long extensions will make it a lot easier to get into the tight locations they are in. You need also to remove the windscreen to remove the screws that hold the dash in place at the very front. Your car is exactly the same as mine if it is RHD.

Pete... '80 dash connections below. Not sure if your '84 is same.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1414234818.jpg White arrows = 7 x 10 mm nuts Black = 5 phillip head screws (windshield must be out as Dave mentioned to access these screws) Orange = 5 plastic prongs I removed nuts on driver's side of AC vent through instrument holes. Passenger side nuts through trunk going in behind the air handler box. Oz mentioned removing air box... since he was going to anyway, OK... but not necessary. (No offense Oz.) Toughest nut to reach is one on passenger side nearest AC duct but it's doable. Plastic prongs I cut off below deck but later discovered this might not have been necessary. Screws that secure forward edge of dash are about 2" away from prongs so I re-installed dash not caring about replacing prongs. Pulled mine for dash recover using epoxy gel as adhesive... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/820657-recovering-dashboard-using-epoxy-gel-adhesive.html |
