Factory looking switch for OIL cooler fan.

Hmm somebody either told me about this factory looking switch, and mount or showed it to me.

Does anyone have this setup?

Where can I find this switch?

I already installed the extra fan, relay and the wiring. I just need a factory looking switch.

TIA

Re: Factory looking switch for OIL cooler fan.

I used a rear wiper switch, in the stock localtion on the dash. There are cutouts in the metal behind the rich corinthian leather for it, you just have to take an x-acto and cut them out.

If you still need it, I can take a pic.

You might be able to get the switch from Silver Star

PS - I still have your scale thingie to give back to you

Sheesh - don't you work!
I posted this not 3 minutes ago!

Hopefully, I will be able to make it to Silver-star's swapmeet this Sunday (Oct 13). If you can send a pic, that would be cool. Maybe I can find it at the swapmeet!

I've been lazy about the scale. I really should sale that... It's nice not having it in my garage.

What time will you be home tonight?

PM or email me.

Hella makes a 'fat' knob push-pull switch that comes with three bezel inserts ... red, yellow, and green. It matches the style of the post-67 air-cooled VWs and early 911/912 models. It is most often used as a fog/driving light switch ... to match OEM-styling.

Thanks Warren!

Is this switch available at most autopart stores?

Or should I find this on Hella's website?

Nick,

Here locally, Autozone carries Hella, and has a catalog out in the lighting products area from which special orders can be made.

Guys:
I've posted this answer either on this board or on Rennlist..there is a small rocker switch that fits perfectly...with an indicator light ( choice of red, blue, or amber)...available at NAPA or other parts stores of this type.
Packaged a number of different ways...but look for Dorman Industries # 643-224 ( Amber)...Div of R&B Industries in Colmar, PA..18915

A rear wiper switch is only about $12 at the local Porsche dealer.

Or, also, I would think, the L/R mirror selector switch would work and probably better than a rear wiper switch, as it doesn't have any symbols marked on it.

I can't get the Dorman or the other non-Porsche switches referenced in this thread. NAPA and Autozone both say they can't get the part over to me here in Hawaii. (cost of living in "paradise" I guess)

I found a switch that fits the rear wiper switch hole nicely, AND it has a momentary switch twin that I want to use on the other side of the dash for another project I'm working on. H-O-W-E-V-E-R, the switch is NOT rated for 12V; it's rated for 125 and 250 VACs.

My question (if you didn't already see it coming) is, can I safely use a switch rated at 3A/125VAC (or 1A/250VAC) to control the cooler fan?

Thanks, Ron. I'm not currently using a relay to power my fan, but I have one waiting in the wings and I'll be sure to use it now.

Question same size hole?

Can anyone tell me if the side view mirror change over switch (circled in green) will fit in the dashboard hole intended for the rear wiper switch (see red arrow)?

I don't want to make mods to the dash (metal under the vinyl) or to the switch. I simply want to pop the switch in and call it a day.

Thanks!

This red (also comes in blue and green) rocker switch fits perfectly and is lighted when the switch is on (if you want it to be)...I think it was under $3. at autozone.
