According to Bruce Anderson's Performance book, this is the recommended size. I had a 72 and it was very low. I ran 7's on the front and 8's on the rear with RS flairs. Can send pics if need be. Hope this helps. poorsha@shaw.ca

No problem in the front. In back, it all depends on the amount of negative camber. I assume it is stock-flared. If you run -2.0 to -2.5 deg. of camber in the rear, they should fit so long as the fender lips are rolled. It's a matter of trial and error to see if it fits on your particular car.

Also, you don't state what tire size. The above would be with 205/60/15's or you could use 205/50/15's. What size did you have in mind?

I just started running 15x7 Fuchs with 205/55-15 Bridgestone S03s on my '73E. I am getting a little tire rub with rolled fenders, no rear flares. But the rub is only on VERY bumpy roads running very hard. Seems fine around town. I have not done any alignment, I think that Tyson's suggestion of a little camber at the back will take care of it.

8 x 15 Fuchs on 77S

Since were talking tires & rims, I just bought a pair of 8x15 Fuch's for my 77. Will they fit in my stock wheel wells? I'v got 205/60x15's on it now and would like to move up to 225/55x15's. My car is U.S. spec height and has the stock flare.

What does it take to roll the flares more, I hear alot of it in posts but not how to do it. Thanks for any info or direction you can point me in.

Rick

Good question, are 205/50's closest to stock diameter? The car currently is running 195/60's on 6x16 repros which don't look right... It is a stock rear flare...

Great link for tire size & switches

Try out this link to size up your tires before you make a switch:

Cheers!

In my experience, for narrow body early 911s, 205-60/15 is pretty close to stock tire diameter. 205-55/15 registers about 5 mph fast on the speedo at 65 mph. With bigger torsion bars and 1/1.5 degrees negative camber, both of these tire sizes on a 6 or 7x15 fuchs/cookie cutter should not rub on the non-flared '69-77, front or rear. You may also not need to roll the fender lips, depending on the car. With 225 tires you need 911R or Revolution 7x15 wheels to fit the rear (except on a few "magic" cars), along with some additional mods. I have not seen a 8x15 fuchs fit a narrow body 911 in the rear. Even when the 8x15 is used in the front you need to use a 205 tire max, stiffen everything, put in 2 degrees negative camber and roll the lips - then the fit is still tight. Most people use a baseball bat to roll the fender lips. If you do a search for particulars, you should find all you need. Best of luck!

you may find yourself wanting to beef up torsion and sway bars as well. less lean=less rub.

I read in an earlier thread that you were running 195/65s on 7s... As I am running 195/60s on 6x16 inchers already with no problems, wouldn't running 195s on 7x15 net out the same result or is the offset signficantly different on the 7s?

Yes the 7 is significantly different than the 6. The extra inch is all to the outside, so even with the same size tire, it is much closer to the fender lip.

Thanks... with the inch to the outside, at least they will clear the suspension on the inside (one would hope) without issue...
