Option code 401 - Light Metal Wheels
Can anyone shed some light on what this option code means exactly on an '84 Euro Carrera? Does it just mean the car has Fuchs (didn't they all?), or is there something more significant here? I searched the site and didn't come up with anything meaningful.

I believe the light metal wheels are actually the Fuchs..and no they all did not come with them. They were an option..
If I remember correctly the stock rims on 911's (mid 70's to early 80's) were the cookie cutters mostly seen on 944's. Later in the 80's they changed the stock rims to the Phone dials (also famous from the 944's). The Fuchs were an extra cost option.. I know my 83 SC (USA) was ordered with the Fuchs..but not sure off hand what the option code was. I am sure smarter people than I will chime in and either confirm what I have said or prove me wrong... Gregg S.

My 81 SC came stock with 15" Fuchs. I ordered it with the 16's. Those were the only 2 options, I believe.
