DIY red trumpet horns for early 911's
My 1973 911 lost it's nice red trumpet horns years ago.
I've had a set of black trumpets and more recently snail shells on the car, but I was hearing the siren call of the red trumpets.... Original ones are either non-existent or extremely pricey. So I put together a set of DIY faux red trumpets. On eBay I purchased the latest and greatest OEM black trumpets (hi and lo horns) for a decent price (something like $60 ea). And a can of Krylon Fuson paint specifically for plastic in red pepper color. A couple hours later et voila.... ![]() ![]() Also missing were the correct mounting brackets. But a great Ozzie came thru with a super nice set of reproduction brackets. Next thing I knew, I was back in business. They look great, were reasonably priced, and can be replaced/duplicated with ease in the future in case the horns get damaged. I'm a happy camper once again. ![]() ![]()

That's "old school" restoration. Simple, practical, inexpensive, and effective. I approve!
