And now for another test drive!!!
I installed the gear shift mechanism after finishing work (lucky me 1/2 day on a Friday!). It took 2 minutes to install. All gears selectable and with nice precise feel. I will have to put some miles on the car just to make sure all is optimised.
I already love the feel. Cheers, Neil |
Nice! I look forward to hearing how it goes once you road test it.
Did I read your post right? You epoxied the gate on vs welding? Just making sure I know what I'm getting into before I do this. |
Hi yes I epoxied using a powder plus glue product. I tested by trying to yank it off after 24 hours and it isn't going anywhere. It is just as neat as the other gate arm. The reason I decided to try epoxy was that I can manage that myself. Otherwise I would ask a mate and wait a few days.
All the best with your install. I will update with road test results. Cheers Neil |
Conclusion to this:
I love the feel of the Seine Gate shift: It gives certainty to the gear change. The spring-loading means you know exactly where you are It looks great It keeps standard Porsche components I needed to adjust my coupler slightly - this was required anyway. I added Lithium grease to all moving parts. While I was undertaking this work I also fixed the broken part of the gear knob that annoyed me using the epoxy, sanding and painting. It is difficult to tell that there was a chunk missing previously. I have been enjoying driving the car for the last few days. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1416349455.jpg Cheers, Neil |

Pity, as I was about to order. |
The factory rubber boot will work with a slice at one of the bellows bends. Described here:
Seine Systems > Gate Shift Kit Installation Overview A leather shift boot provides lots more room and is one option. Sherwood Seine Systems |

I had the boot on mine for a little while but went back to the leather cover in the console.

Hi...Does a JWEST-aka- Renshifter work on the same premise as a Seine?...If so, any Pro's & Con's between a JWEST vs a Seine that you may know of?
Thanks in advance! PS - Does the factory leather boot cover the Seine for a stock look? - Or? |

I have never experienced the JWEST, however I have a Seine with a factory short shift kit and a 6" stick extension. This setup shifts "like butter" and I can't imagine the JWEST could be that much better! Yes you can use the leather boot with the Seine. |
Thanks for the info uwanna - Whoa!...$400.00 is quite a difference, to say the least ay!

But the boot weigh is a drag so I removed mine and the weigh saving give me a Power Boost of about 0.005 HP. |
Am on my second car with a Seine. After I sold the first and got another with a 915, there was no way I was going to tolerate the slop, so got another and haven’t missed a shift in 3 years. Good stuff for cheap.
|
Thanks RSBob!...Any thoughts on a Wevo vs a Seine?
|
Don’t know about Wevo, but people who have had both Seine and Rennshift prefer the later. But when you compare prices, the Seine is a bargain and it works just fine.
