chip tuning in the Bay Area
Can anyone recommend a San Francisco Bay Area tuner who routinely does 911 Bosch Motronic mods? I need a custom chip for my 3.2L with 964 cams, porting, K&N cone, B&B dual out & cat bypass. I do not want to replace the Bosch brain... so the let's-replace-your-computer-with-this-$2000-wingding!! program (a la Bauer) won't work for me.
I have an early '84 with a soldered chip, so I need someone to solder in a socket. I've been considering Autothority, but truthfully I don't like the distance. I'm interested in someone local so I can get the car on a dyno and re-burn the chip if necessary. Thanks in advance,

If I were you, I would make the hour (or so) drive up to The Racer's Group at Sears Point (Sonoma). They have a huge facility and two dynos. Burning a custom chip for your exact application would be no problem. They also are the authorized distributor for the Unichip "piggyback" ECU's/chips, if you decide to go that route. Plus, you will get to see what a Le Mans winning team's shop looks like!
Check it out here if you have a few minutes: www.theracersgroup.com ![]() |

Like said above, go to the racers group. Great group of guys-the unichip kings. They will hook your baby up and get to purr like never before

Hey folks,
Thanks very much for the recommendations. I've been a bit delayed on my rebuild, so I haven't yet gotten to the chip. I'll definitely be calling S-Car-Go and Racer's Group. But Unichip is exactly what I don't want to do... the $2K wingding. I'm looking to spend no more than around $800 on reprogramming. I will post my results when I get her running. Cheers,
