Great pictures.

It is amazing how exposed the drivers are in these pictures. The Masarati of Alan Connell looks like he is sitting on a stool in a bathtub. Amazing they were not all killed.

In last issue of R&T is a feature on Dan Gurney and the F1 Eagle of about 1967 or so vintage... the body of this beautiful car is made largely of MAGNESIUM for lightness!!!

The car has NO SEATBELTS - Dan is quoted as saying that in case of a crash, he always hoped he would be thrown clear of the car befor all that magnesium went up!!!

Very cool site. Thanks for the link.

Here's another one worthy of a bookmark; albeit slightly more modern. The photo archive is excellent.

A stool in a bathtub may be a little icky, but not usually lethal.

Bill,

Did they mention the bead-blasted Titanium bundle-of-snakes exhaust on that Eagle F1 car? Missed that issue.

Maybe icky, but atleast you don't go 120 MPH in the bathtub
