Idle Mixture adjustment after Fuel Injector change
 

Hello All,

I recently replaced the intake gaskets and a few other things too and decided to replace the fuel injectors with a set of the Jaguar XJ injectors mentioned in another thread. Car seems to be running rich, you can really smell it at idle. Have any of you had to adjust your fuel mixture after a fuel injector replacement? The car is an 86 3.2 liter with a SW chip, SSI's and a Cone filter.

I put a set of those in my 87 3.2 and didn't have any problems. I too, replaced intake gaskets and flanges, and an O2. Not sure if you can adjust mixture, except base idle. Check O2 and make sure its working.

DME box settings as well:
DME FQS (Fuel Quality Switch) settings for our 911's are as follows:

Switch Fuel Ignition
1 0 0 stock setting
2 +3% 0
3 +6% 0
4 -3% 0
5 0 -3deg
6 +3% -3deg
7 +6% -3deg
8 -3% -3deg

My 1984 was in the #4 setting. Will be experimenting with the 1 position. A Gunsons Gas tester will allow you to tune to your hearts content.

So the #4 setting will reduce the fuel flow by 3% but leave the timing stock?

Where is this switch (FQS) located?

On the motronic brain under a plug, remove the plug and twist to your hearts content. It's a small potentiometer so gentle is the word.
