76 911 CDI wiring???

Hello,

Can someone direct me to a wiring diagram that shows a 3 pin CDI unit that has Blue/green., Red., and Black coloured wires??

I have a diagram for a 1976 911S but it show's the wire colours as White., red., White.

P.O has the red going into a T2 via 3 different spade connectors (one is a piggy back) just trying to tidy things up a bit.

Thanks

This is the current flow diagram for the CDI and distributor. N is your coil. N15 is your CDI. O is your distributor.

Connection A is the lead to your coil.
Connection B (Red wire) is the power to your CDI.
Connection C is the signal from your points.
Connection D is the ground for the CDI box.

Hopefully it helps.

Thanks Harry D,
That's good information. But see how the current flow diagram shows the points and coil wires as white? I was wondering why mine are not white.
I'll remove my CDI box and confirm that the terminals are marked as per the diagram.
Where does the black/mauve (taco) wire from the 14 pin plug go?
Thanks again,
Frank

The purple/black wire is the signal to your tachometer.

Do not know why the other colors are not shown

The red wire, connection B, should have 12 volts when the key in in run/start position.

Connection A is from the coil. Connection C is from the points. You can trace them from your coil or distributor with an ohmmeter.

Easy to trace as they're out and stripped.

Glad to help. There is a ton of info here and it can be overwhelming. I saw in another thread you are looking at an MSD. You will need to decide the route you wish to take.

FWIW, one of my goals is to visit Oz. I have stepped foot on every continent except the New Zealand/Australia subcontinent and only sailed by Antarctica. Hopefully my Oz dream will be realized by next year.

Yes, I have a heap of parts.
MSD, 8222 blaster coil, pertonix 2, had my distributor recurved and rebuilt, and I've just ordered plug leads from our host.
But first thing is to get it running how it is. Then I'll move onto the other stuff.

Make sure if you get down here to let me know. We have plenty of spare rooms and live in a nice country area of North East Victoria.
To top it off, lots of Kangaroos here and koalas frequent our property. A tourists dream😀
Cheers,
Frank

Hi there - I am still having intermittent ignition troubles and got hold of a new cdi loom. One question - where does the 5th male spade connector go at the cdi end of the loom - the one 'doubled under' in the photo from this post.

I have a 77 2.7s and I can't clearly see that wire on my existing loom but it may be buried in the nest of wires....

Thks

CDI wiring

The harness shown on the picture as a one year only 1969 version. There are 3 types, 1969, (yours) 1970-73, and for the 1974 there's also a one year only version. Starting from 1975 the wiring for the CDI and distributor are combined in engine harness.

Mmhhh interesting - it's a new Dansk part that I got with the part number 612.05000 which it states does 69 to 77my cars ? - it looks fine apart from the extra wire mentioned which looks like it may b3 the tacho loop ? But I can't find the purple/black associated wire/connector.

76 CDI wiring.

I think this is a typical example of a Dutch saying: bread you buy at the baker and meat you buy at the butcher. I am surprised they sell this, because they are not even done correctly and the accompanying rubber boat is also missing. I wonder if the wires are shielded?
