early 911 trivia: which rear suspension parts are interchangeable?
Hi, I have a question for those that have seen several 911's. Is the steel rear trailing arm of a 65 911 with Nadella driveshafts the same as a rear trailing (banana) arm on an SC, or 75-later 911 except for the brake caliper mount? I know an aluminum one was used at some point, but is the later steel one able to fit on my 65 911 without modification?
Also, is the hub the same which fits the brake rotor, or is that a different design as well? Any clues would be helpful, as I don't have any 911's to compare to mine. Thanks ![]() |

Changing to a '69 and later semi-trailing arm will lengthen your wheelbase by 2.5 inches!!! That may make tire and wheel changes difficult with your original rear fender openings!
You're stuck with the early stuff, unless you change the torque tube, semi-trailing arms, spring plates, and quarter panels or flares.
