1978 SC factory options

I've been searching this site as well as anywhere else Porsche to find a listing of factory options available to the 78 SC. No luck! Can anyone direct me to such a list?
Thanks. Jim

These are very expensive for collector reasons but line out the options from 78-83.

Google Books has "Collector's Originality Guide Porsche 911" by Peter Morgan. It is in electronic form and less than $20. It clusters SC and Carrera options together in one section. Not quite what you want.

If you have a specific area of the car you would want option numbers for, I can search the list and advise.

Thanks for reply Bob. I'm actually looking at SC's to purchase and was just trying
to determine what are standard features and what are factory options versus owner
installed options. For example I came across a 78 with no passenger side rearview
mirror. So I suspect this was an option. Option numbers not important.
Thanks again.

I have a ROW '78 SC, it has no air conditioning, no sun roof, no driving lights, but I do have a passenger side mirror.

I have a 1979 Targa that I bought brand new. That car had no options except metallic paint (Minerva Blue) and Porsche CR radio. No air conditioning, no black trim, no Fuchs wheels (6"/7"X15 silver cookie cutters instead), no fog lights,no passenger side mirror. '79 options are probably very similar to '78 options.

jdhay,

My '78 SC Targa USA model came with no passenger side mirror and had to install one later. It also came with dilavar cylinder head studs that were replaced too. And the wheels, 15" cookie cutters and the smog pump. Determine the VIN and refer to the Red Book and other sources.

Tony

option M261 - passenger side external mirror w/flat glass (Redbook)

Interesting looking options in Redbook.

M503 - Speedster variant of Cabriolet

83 only suspect, and I bet rudely expensive but what an awesome option. I have never seen one.

Also,

M684 - one piece rear seat
M659 - On-board computer
M673 - Prepared for lead sealed odometer

Factory Options List in PET

PET has several lists of data for the 1978-83 911SC. Among those lists is this list of factory options. I've never researched this further, but I would imagine that M553 Version for USA and Canada would include several unstated options that were included as standard equipment on THAT model. For example, M058 Impact Absorbers Front and Rear, to name just one.

A bare bones 78 SC would have the following:
Cookie cutter wheels (Fuchs optional)
4-spoke steering wheel (leather 3 or 4-spoke optional)
Leatherette or cloth seats (partial or full leather optional)
No air conditioning (A/C optional)
Chrome trim (Black trim optional)
Electric drivers side mirror, no passenger mirror (passenger side optional)
Open differential (LSD optional)
No fog lights (fog lights optional)
Manual windows (power optional)
Boge shocks (Bilstein optional)
No sunroof (if coupe)
Manual heat controls (auto heat optional)
No headlight washers (washers optional)
Standard seats (sport seats optional)
5-speed manual (Sportomatic optional)

Certain equipment was always installed on US-bound cars like an air pump but some was only usually equipped. Your typical 78 coupe would have AC, fog lights, sunroof, power windows, leather seats, Fuchs and so on. Some people think these options were standard but you could certainly acquire a stripped-down model in the US or elsewhere.

My Row '78 had the leather 4 spoke steering wheel, non power passenger mirror, full leather. As the only options selected.
Everything else is as described above.
