EXT light on Dash
 

Trying to figure out what the red EXT light next to the headlight knob on my '87 911 represents. I just started the car after a top end rebuild and the light stays on continually. Any ideas?

Is it in a rectangular space just to the left of the light switch? If so, I could not find out what it means by searching through the owners manual as it's shown as a blank on the dash identification page.

Just exactly which model of 87 do you have, and do you have any special options such as auto trans?

My 911 is an 81 so not much help but I did find an 87 owner's manual online and there is absolutely nothing regarding this EXT dash light.

Could this be the 02 sensor life indicator?

Warp core dilithium crystals have been "EXT"-inguished". Time to get another 911.

I would say that looks like it was added by a PO. What it does is anyone's guess.

I'd say aftermarket alarm.

I traced the wiring from the bulb to the cruise control module under the dash (passengers side). My question now is - what would cause the light to stay on all the time?
