OK you early car and S critics -- Whatdya think? It certainly has an interesting spec and history.

Another poorly written ad with poor photos. Need lots more info! The motor was dyno'd at Stoddard, was it built by Stoddard? Ad says FOUR steel flared fenders - I see 2 on the rear??? Is paint original? "Sole Owner" - so this is the original owner selling it, apparently? What's the interior look like? etc., etc.

Could be a very nice ride if that 2.8 pans out! -- Curt

All that work, and it's still painted gold....

Maybe he could've sprung for some decklid shocks while he was at it....

Yeah, I wasn't sure if it was owned by a fish, or some guy that owned a pair of shoes.
Thanks for clearing that up, Curt

Gold Metallic actually looks great on an early car!! If it weren't for the crap photos on the ad, the Gold Metallic might look something like this:

"Sole Owner" - as opposed to several parties on the title I suppose? If he's the original owner of this car, why doesn't he play that up big time in the ad? That's a huge selling point! -- Curt

I have a '72 911T converted to a 2.8L, Webers, S-cams about the same time - 1976. From first hand experience, "if the 2.8 pans out" the thing is a hoot to drive.

given the small amount of text, it bugs me that this information makes the cut:

"Thug bug theft protection system. Eclipse am/fm CD premium sound system with amplifier."

While I guess this is part of the package, seems like someone interested in an early car with a 2.8 wouldn't want the "Thug Bug" and doesn't really care about the stereo.

Curt, thanks for the gold metallic pic...I've e-mailed this thread to Evren, so he can have a peek at his car's original color. and I agree, it's a color that goes great on on early car...
The original subject car? Eh!

... i'm still thinking about the psychedelic color scheme from a few weeks ago.. though the metallic gold certainly looks nice in Curt's picture...

Porsche Crest Geld/D'or

What is it with the guys who paint it gold? One of the 20 911R's was gold, too.

Hey Gold is a very German fall color. My 72S was painted gold 30 years ago in October. I love driving it in the fall, with the leaves flying up behind my tires. Taking her to a German Octber fest. Did any of the RS cars come in gold Id love to see one. I know that my color is either a love it or hate it kind of thing But I do get mostly praise for the color. Its not my fav color which Paul has but it is my second choice. Try painting a gold car green that will take a life time.

There were no RS's in metallic Gold (or Silver) because they could not paint the fiberglass parts properly in metallic colors. -- Curt
