IROC Project Pics

A few of you have asked me what I am doing with my '79SC. Now that I have a few pics, I thought I would share them. i don't have any real experience doing something like this but this board has been priceless for guidance and avoiding mistakes. Thanks to those of you who have posted subjects that have helped in this project.

The car started as a solid track car with engine and suspension already prepared. The idea to backdate the car to IROC appearance just struck my fancy after seeing some pics on this site and few others. To date I have completed the following:

Stripped or removed the following:

Interior carpet and rear deck and side panels
Rear seats
Stock seatbelts (may be reinstalled or not)
AC and ALL associated components (didn't work anyway)
Stereo and speakers
heater controls (fan was shot, will route fresh air into cockpit)
Stripped old paint from 7 and 9 inch Fuchs.
front and rear bumpers
rocker panels
Restored fan and fan shroud

Have installed the following:

Bolt in Cage
IROC tail (have ducktail as an alternative)
Camber strut brace
Optima battery and necessary mounting hardware
front and rear IROC bumpers
9" front and 11" rear flares (still need to be bonded)
HE block off plates (fabbed my own from stock plates & FG)

Still need to do the following:

Weld door and dash bars into cage
install front opening mounted oil cooler
complete flare install
Install wheel spacers
Install turn signals in front bumper
Install hood pins in decklid
Have car painted (pay someone!!!)
Paint wheels (I can do that)

Here are the pics:

Thanks again Pelicanheads for your help!

Very cool!! I think the IROC cars are sweet. Are you going to go with an IROC color?

After much debate, I think I'm going with:

Dave,

Found a pic of a Mexico Blue Turbo with TRE bumpers. Thought you'd to check it out.
