Introduction - my new 67 'hot rod'.... Purists beware!
A few of you who frequent the 993 section may have already seen this, though I wanted to share my project with the Pelican crowd also. I've been swamped for the past 6-8 months, so haven't frequented this site though it was a great resource for inspiration, parts and technical information during the build.
Introducing the latest addition to our stable…. It’s a 1967 SWB 912 with a 2.2 S spec 911 motor. I found the car on Pelican last year & purchased it after some sound advice from CarreraX – who is extremely knowledgeable regarding longhood 911’s. The car was owned since 1978 by Peter Sorensen – who has operated his Porsche Restoration shop (PBR Restorations) for over 35 years. At some point during the late 80’s, he decided to add some ‘Miami Vice’ touches (as was popular at the time). The car already had expertly installed ST fenders (Peter swears they’re real) & Peter added the rear reflector, flag mirrors, blacked out trim etc… After many conversations, I decided that I should use the opportunity to have Peter turn the car into what I wanted it to be, before shipping the car from his shop in the Bay Area to MI – best decision I could have made… Over a period of 12 months, we transformed the car into something that I’ve wanted since I was 8 years old, when my Dad used to take me to Brands Hatch, Silverstone & Brooklands to watch the historic races. The ST / RSR 911’s have always mesmerized me & trips to Monterey Historics / Rennsport Reunions over the past 10-12 years only increased the urge have on in the garage. While I love the race cars, I’ve also always loved the ‘sport purpose’ street look – which is the direction I went with the 67. Peter put an amazing amount of effort and experienced skill into the transformation & went above and beyond in many aspects. The great thing is that he fell back in love with the car during the process, which insured every detail was attended to with care. The goal we set was to have the car finished in time for this year’s Monterey car week so that I could fly in to SFO, pick the car up & drive it down for the week, then return it to Peter for any punch list items to be seen to prior to shipping. Turned out to be one of the best weeks I can remember – the car was everything I’d hoped for and much more. It’s not an overly restored car that I’m scared to drive hard – though IMO it looks perfect. The driving experience is sublime & sensory beyond belief. Have to say that I’m beyond pleased with how this car came together & extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to buy this particular car. This was the first picture I took after collecting the car & driving down to the house we rented for the week in Carmel Valley – was a great drive.
 More from the week (Werks Reunion / Laguna Seca etc):       Car arrived to my house in MI last Saturday - safe & sound.   j

Amazing what the bumper, mirror and color change did - transformed.......so when are you going to 15 inch wheels ....:-)

So, scrolling thru from the beginning I am thinking to my self:
Self, this is a cute car. I Love the color (red) but the 911 badge looks a little out of place and needs to go. And the flag mirrors do not suit. But overall a great looking car. Then I continue on. WOW WOW WOWEE She is a beauty. Very nicely done. I LOVE IT

Lovely car, plus you rented what looks like the ultimate California house during your Monterey week. Truly living for the moment. Great taste. It looks like you too are an ex-pat/immigrant, so I'll ask the rhetorical question, Is this a great country, or what? John in CT.
