Cloudy chrome on Fuchs and Quarter windows

Hello all,

I'm having real trouble polishing up my fuchs and quarter window surrounds.
It appears like theres a mist in the metal's surface and it won't come out either using
a metal cleaner (Autosol) or polish (red or blue). Any help fixing this would be great as I can't get a proper shine on them at the moment. I've thought of using Anti-Cal anyone got any other ideas ?
Heres a couple of photos ... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1415812516.jpg

Thanks in advance

Both those items are anodized aluminum which has deteriorated. It is not possible to undo without having the parts re-anodized. Your best bet otherwise is a surface treatment to make it less noticeable such as vasoline, WD40, or others.

Those aluminum surfaces are anodized, and can not be polished unless the anodizing is stripped, either by very laborious sanding or chemically using a strong lye.

FWIW - The "soft" finish is intentional - those parts were never offered with a high-polished look.

Looks like mine did. The Mother's polish really does help, but does not remove it entirely:

Guys
Thanks for confirming my suspicions, I thought possibly the wheels could be polished out
but obviously not ... damn !
Thanks for all your replies anyway

I used a Magic eraser on mine and it worked wonders.

Do you just apply vaseline and leave it on or does it need to be rubbed off?

You can rub it off just enough so that there is a film remaining. You'll know if you wipe it off too much if the spots reappear. :)

You can also use WD40. Realize that these are just band-aids.
