Where to buy a helmet?

Can anyone recomend some online or catalog stores to buy a helmet. It will be used for time trials track use.

I bought my helmet from Racer Wholesale at:

http://www.racerwholesale.com

I bought the G Force SA2000 rated helmet and have been quite pleased with it. The price is highly competitive.

You might also try OG Racing. They will sell or rent helmets for track events. They are at:

http://www.ogracing.com

Good luck. I hope you find what you want.

I suggest that you find someplace that stocks the helmets your are interested in and try and buy. Helmets are like shoes - you really need to try them on.

i bought mine from OGracing. you have to measure your head very carefully according to the instructions on the website, and it should fit.

however, the advantage of trying them on in person is that you get a chance to determine whether you like open face or closed face, plus you can check the weight of the helmet you're choosing.

i bought a bell M2 helmet that is a beginner's helmet (aka, cheap), full face, with an extended field of vision due to a wider opening for the eyes.

I agree with Chris. You will be better off if you get a chance to try some on. I was set on getting a particular helmet from Simpson and went to Simpson World to find my size. After trying it on I realized that I didn't like the fit. It was too tight around my ears and I couldn't slide in my glasses. I tried on a different style and found that it fit much better. It cost me more, but I'd rather have a good fit.

Same situation here. Any idea of some shops in Southern CA where I could try on some helmets?

talk to andreas. they are a good source for racing equipment. i bought a shroth harness, racing gloves, a cobra suzuka racing seat, and a momo wheel from them. they have a full supply of helmets, racing suits, shoes, gloves, and in-car equipment. i don't think they are open on saturday.

Got mine from racers' wholesale too, SA2000 G-force. find someone with one and try it on, decide what you want, then buy from them. good prices.

A helmet is the most important part you will buy for tracking your car. Buy one that is well tested. Simpson, Bell etc. You can go to a motorcycle shop and try them on to see what is the most comfortable, get the size and order a helmet for car racing through one of the many online, wholsale, racing companies. Summitt Racing has Simpson. If you look through any of the Porsche magazines you can find companies that sell them.

Drive the 911 to a motor bike shop so you can try them on. AND sit in the car with it on. You will find different brands/types of helmets "fit the car" better. You'll know what I'm talking about when you sit in the car with one on :)

If and when you do buy a helmet there is a very simple yet important guide to buying a helmet. You buy a $50 helmet for a $50 dollar head. Now ask yourself how much your head is worth.

I bought my helmet (Bieffe Predator) from www.upracing.com because I was ordering a bunch of other stuff from them, and their price was right. I had measured my head and tried one on ahead of time to make sure of the fit...I would recommened doing this, but I found that this helmet is a very reasonable price for a SA certified, full face, Compo-tech shell (nice and light.)
