'74 RS oil cooler dimensions
Does any one have the dimensions of the oil cooler fitted to the 1974 Carrera 3.0 RS or the IROC cars. What size are pipe fittings?
Would also appreciate photos or drawings of same. Thanks |

Are you talking about the oem fnder mounted one? 30mm, Porsche only fittings. Various aftermarket parthouses will sell an adapter that converts to a cheaper alternative.....
Here in the US, MOCAL coolers use the -12AN fittings. BAT Inc. in Florida has all the adpaters, the cooler, lines and such for about 550 USD. Porsche coolers and the oem fittings go for double that.

FYI- If you are looking for a pre 1974 oil cooler that fits in the RS bumper for super cheap.... Get a used RX-7 aluminum oil cooler. it fits perfectly and cost me only $50.00. It also has a thermostat on the cooler itself. I did this on my Blue racecar.
www.Plavanracing.com . I just need to finish the alum ducting. (Although I already raced it without ANY hot oil problems.....it works great!

Do you update the fittings on the rx7? The rx7 fittings are too small and restrictive for the 911.

Yes we updated them. We cut off the old ones and attached (welded) bigger fittings. That enlarged the holes big enough. Racing temps on my 2.7 never exceeded 225 degrees. Thats without proper ducting.
