Where does this hose go?

With the CV's rebuilt, I enjoyed some spirited driving yesterday. That was fun, but my engine surge under load problem has gotten much, much worse. I'm about 90% sure it is the air flow meter. (these problems come in threes, right? I'm rapidly losing my sense of humor.)

Anyway, as I was contemplating taking the AFM off again, I noticed a hose attached to nothing. I assume it is a vacuum hose of some sort. It is attached to a do-hickey (technical term, sorry) mounted above the oil filler. Here is a pic of the do-hickey:

The hose ends up about in the middle of the engine by all the intake plumbing (it was along the firewall down low, I've pulled it up for clarity):

I've looked all over using a mirror and flashlight and can't find where this hose goes. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Don

I think it found it....

Still, anyone know what the do-hickey is called/does?

Don,
It goes on a thermo switch just below where the large black bellows connects.

Picture show it all.

Yup, that looks like the one. Do you know if there is a clamp of some sort on the hose to keep it there?

I'm guessing your pic is with the engine out of the car - or are you just very clever with a mirror?

Thanks Thomas

I have never seen a clamp on this hose, and this is the second Motronics car I have had.

BTW- The engine is in the car - just a small camera!
