My 84 carpet and interior install

Hi guys,
I am going through fixing up my RS Orange-colored 84 Carerra 3.2. I began to describe the process on my introductory thread, but this is a subject of its own.
My car came with no rear carpet or sound proofing, so it sounded like a tin can. That is nice for a while, but I wanted a little more refinement sonically speaking. I began by replacing the Bursch muffler with a Dansk SS sport model. Then I removed the rest of the interior, and ordered supplies. I got soundproofing from Quietride Solutions, and I ordered my carpet kit from Rob Bubb at Classic9leathershop. The quality of both of these products is excellent.
Sound proofing begins with Dynamat xtreme, applied as patches to kill panel resonance. Then multiple layers of acoutical padding goes over that. The the German squareweave carpet goes on over that.
The pictures show the progress.
Thanks for watching.
Dave

Hi guys,
I finished the door pockets and the central tunnel. Finding screw hole locations and reinstalling center consoles took the most time. Old mats still in place for protection.

This looks like phenomenal work. I plan on doing the same in the near future. How good are the instructions with the Quiet ride kit and do you feel it is complete?

The quiet ride kit is excellent. I bought the body kit, and the floor kit. Not cheap, but very little fiddling. Comes complete with adhesive and seam tape. Performance is excellent too. I sat in the back seat, and rev'ed the engine, and it gives an wonderful sound: subtle, not noisy.
Good luck,
Dave

The floor kit is pretty self explanatory in what it covers. Is the body kit for the rear deck/firewall and sides? Does it include the doors?

I don't want to hijack your thread but I'm doing the same thing. I'm using the German sound deadener an the original style carpet. None of this is easy but it sure picks up the car.

It's a 1973.5. You can get the full story here. This started out as a $3,000 rust repair. You know how that goes. I am so far over budget I may never come up for air.

Hi Chris,
If your question is addressed to me, the car sounds great. Very little road noise. Still a nice, not loud, but deep engine note. No tinniness to doors, floor or cabin in general. The kit was very light, but very effective.
Good luck,
Dave

Yes, I'm also interested in how much sound reduction you noticed. Carpet looks really good, the ol' guess you get what you pay for rings true and in this case, more is better!

I do have a sound meter, but did not take any readings. Sorry. Subjectively, much quieter, but I had no sound proofing and no rear carpet at all. I also added engine compartment sound pad.

The body kit includes the rear bulkhead, and sides, but no doors or roof.

Yes Dave it was, I plan on doing both of my cars after they get back from the body shop.
