Lower ball joint nut, breaking torque
Hi Guys,
I have been working on the front suspension of my 84 3.2. I bought the Pelican tool for the ball joint nut. It says for install only. On the box, it says Sir Tools. I think they make good stuff. I engaged the tool and held it in place with a floor jack that lifted the suspension just a bit. Then I put a 4-foot pipe on my 1/2' ratchet and pulled. It only took maybe 50 pounds of pull before I heard a pop, like a small gunshot, and then the nut was pretty much finger loose. No big deal at all. Just so you know. I have heard other way, including pipe wrench. I have heard the Sir tool does not work. It works, but you have to ensure powerful contanct before you apply powerful torque. Good luck, Dave

I used the tool with a 450 lb. air impact wrench to take it off...zip, off. Tool was fine.
Counted the threads prior and used the same wrench to put the new one back on...zip...on.
