'83sc loud exhaust

My 911sc started displaying a loud, pronounced exhaust noise, onset was sudden, started about a week ago by the end of a short drive. Funny thing, though, the noise goes away once it passes ~1200 to 1300 rpm and with normal driving throughout the rpm range. The idle does surge, or hunt at idle when cold, but goes away within a minute of startup. Any ideas??

All stock EXCEPT for cat bypass pipe, replaced that about a year and half ago. I looked at and tightened all of its fasteners that I could reach and felt around this pipes connections and the heat exchangers, but hard to tell if there was a leak using this method...

Put it on jack stands. And listen.

My crossover pipe fractured. The local shop welded for cheap.

Hopefully is an easy fix.

Sometimes an exhaust gasket is not held securely in place due to not torquing the fasteners enough. The gasket splits and starts to leak. It happened to me years ago.
Can you look around for leaks>
Good luck,
Dave
