the one in the door that changes the position of the mirrors or the one on the dash that swiches between the left and right mirror ?

Assume it's the one on the doorsill.
I don't think 78 offered a passenger side remote adj.

BTW - wiring those up from scratch is a bi atch - not for the lighthearted, heavy-fisted, or short of patience - even if you have the schematic and all original terminals.

There is one connector in the mirror assembly hanging off the side of the door, and one connector inside the door at the L-R-U-D control switch. There are also connections on the dash, under the gauges, at the switch that controls which mirror is being adjusted -- from the left mirror to the right mirror (if you have a right mirror.)

Which one are you talking about?
