How do I get this dead pedal screw out of the wheel well??

So. This car had a set of aluminum Rennline pedals that I pulled out. The last screw was extraordinarily troublesome, to the point where I took a cutting wheel to it to get it out.

Now I'm left with the shaft of the screw (which is turning freely) lodged in my wheel well. It really feels like there's a nut on the other side of it, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how I can get access to it. I'm scared to push it in, out of fear that it will rattle for a decade. Thoughts?

I have a repro RSR dead pedal, and have yet to drill holes in the car to fit it...

But I'm pretty sure that there's nothing to push that screw into, that the other end of that is protruding from the sheet metal in the wheel well. Maybe under a bunch of underseal or silicon...

Targa or Coupe? If it's a coupe it is like sought said. If it's a targa, I'm not sure but there may be a reinforcing plate that separates the inner from the fender liner. In any case, how about just glueing it in with some JB Weld and then grinding it flush?

So there is no rattle issue, I think weld / glue as jittsl recommends then grind flat. Save the pain and agony of messing around with it

I don't think you can get a nut on the back side of that. It may be spinning freely because the hole is stripped. I would try the vice grips with a screwdriver under the vice grips to try to pull it out of the hole.

I enlarged your photo and it almost looks like you have a machine screw tapped into a screw insert. If so, maybe the threaded portion of the insert broke loose and that's what's spinning. Can you tell if an insert has been put into the sheet metal?

That is a hollow cavity. Grab a vice grip and bend back and forth, its just not rethreading back out.

A photo from just behind the front left tire. I have no idea how I missed this. Sheesh.
